Legend by Marie Lu

Stand Alone or Series: First book in a planned trilogy
How did I get this book: From my school's book fair way back in 2011
Format: Print

Summary
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

Review

Note: I read this book back in 2011, I am just rereading it because I have forgotten some things and I would also like to read the rest of the trilogy.

Now I am going to go through the things that I thought were right and the things that I thought were Wrong (very few things) about 'Legend'.

WRONG:The Predictability

While this aspect wasn't as annoying as it is when I have read other novels but I wish I could kind of play detective while reading this and be wrong at the end.

WRONG:The Pacing

Even though this book is beautiful,it kind of dragged for me.I know she is trying to make it suspenseful but I just wish that it wasn't so suspenseful.

RIGHT:The Concept

Even though the concept of 'Legend' may seem unoriginal,Marie Lu adds something that makes this book stand our from other  dystopian novels.

RIGHT:The Font

Lu uses diffrent colored text when talking from June and Day's perspectives. Even though this is fun, it is also helpful because it shows the differences between the two protagonists more profoundly.

RIGHT:The Characters

June and Day are of course amazing characters but on top of that I also really loved the supporting characters. I like how the villian's seem prepared and calculated and not just blood thirsty.

RIGHT:June

I really loved Day's character but I feel Like I connect with June far more than Day. Shes powerful and eventually finds the truths and she will be a good character to follow throughout this series.
